AEM Announces
the Purchase of DC Sports Inc.—Combining the Best Performance Companies From
Air Filter to Exhaust Tip!
January 6th, 2004, Hawthorne,
CA—Advanced Engine Management (AEM) is
pleased to announce that it has acquired the business of DC Sports Inc. The
purchase of DC Sports Inc. brings together two of the pioneer sport compact
manufacturers, who collectively deliver products with unmatched performance
from air filter to exhaust tip and everything in between!
“We are excited
about DC Sports becoming a part of the family,” stated AEM President Greg
Neuwirth. “DC Sports built its reputation with leading edge R&D and
manufacturing processes, and a high commitment to quality. This
quality is well represented in all of DC Sports products and makes them a
natural fit with AEM.”
Brothers Darrick and Darrell
Contreras founded DC Sports in 1987. The
company designs and manufactures headers, exhaust systems, strut bars, tie rods
and accessories for the sport compact market at its 60,000 square-foot facility
in Corona, California.
DC Sports utilizes the latest technology to create innovative designs and
unmatched fitment including computerized CNC lathes, mills and benders, and
robotic plasma cutters and robotic welders. All products are dyno-tested on the
company’s Dynapack Chassis dyno or Dynamic Testing
Systems dyno to guarantee unmatched performance.
Commented DC Sports’s Darrell Contreras, “This acquisition could
not have come at a better time. We’ve been hard at work developing
products for Chevy, Hyundai, Infiniti, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, SCION,
Subaru, Toyota
and VW. Having AEM’s marketing and distribution resources behind us will get
these products to market faster and allow us to grow at an exponential rate in
the future!”
DC Sports
will retain its name, and all R&D and manufacturing for DC Sports Inc. will
remain in Corona, California.
Darrick and Darrell Contreras will continue product development and
engineering, and oversee manufacturing. All accounting, sales, and
administrative duties will be conducted at AEM/DC Sports headquarters at 2205
126th Street, Unit A, Hawthorne,
CA 90250.
