That’s why it was just a matter of time before MAHLE Motorsport, the company’s U.S. motorsports division, would announce the introduction of a race ready piston assembly kits for Audi’s 5 valve, 4 cylinder 1.8T liter, and 30 valve 2.7 liter turbo engines. This is the first Euro piston kit developed by MAHLE for the U.S. aftermarket. And like its OE counterpart, there’s the same impeccable standards and advanced technology attributed to the MAHLE brand; the same brand that wins Formula 1 and Le Mans races year after year.
The Audi PowerPak includes all forged, hand deburred pistons, coated with a phosphate dry lubricant to protect against microwelding and pin galling. Additionally MAHLE goes the extra mile to apply Grafal, a proprietary anti-friction coating to the skirts. The Audi kit includes German steel wrist pins, radiused valve pockets, and race proven round wire locks. Forced pin oiling and precision pin fitting are standard.
