Description for Edelbrock part# 3420
This Edelbrock Performer IAS Mono-Tube Shock uses a patented inertia-activated valve that instantly adjusts to driving conditions. Its simple--on smooth terrain the valve closes to give you a firm ride excellent cornering and reduced body sway. Under rough conditions the valve opens to make the shock softer and more responsive. Your wheels will follow the contour of the driving surface for a smoother off-road ride. The shock utilizes polyurethane bushings for added responsiveness and the high-pressure mono-tube design eliminates the foaming of oil and dissipates heat more effectively. Other features include a nitro-steel piston rod heavy duty welds and an attractive red powdercoat finish.Edelbrock Shocks give sports car handling and luxury car ride. You get dramatically reduced body roll and a smooth ride over rough terrain. Heres how. When high resistance is needed . the damping force is firm. The chassis remains level with little body roll for excellent handling. Under hard braking this high damping force prevents your vehicle from diving forward for greatly improved handling and control. When low resistance is desired . over potholes or rough terrain . Edelbrock shocks instantly reduce the damping force. This allows the tires to follow the terrain...without transmitting jolts to the chassis. The body remains stable and the suspension takes the abuse for a smooth ride. Arrows show path of damping fluid flow increases as valve opens.During cornering and hard braking on smooth surfaces the Inertia valves closed. This keeps the chassis level for excellent handling and reduced body roll. When the wheel goes over dips or potholes the valve opens allowing the wheel to follow the terrain without transmitting jolts to the chassis...the result is an extremely smooth ride over any surface.
