First they bolt the bellhousing to a machine with a cast iron flywheel and saw inside it. Then they spin the flywheel causing the saw to cut through it until it explodes. Lakewood Bellhousings are made by a hydraulic forming process known as hydroforming. This process forms with a minimum amount of thinning in most areas and actually increases the thickness in important safety areas. As a result the bellhousings have a more uniform thickness throughout. All bellhousings are stress relieved. Manufactured of 1/4 inch high-quality steel the bellhousings have the ability to absorb clutch or flywheel explosions with a possible elongation or deformation.
